Mount Kilimanjaro Trekking – 6‑Day Marangu Route

Marangu Gate > Mandara Hut > Horombo Hut > Kibo Hut > Uhuru Peak - Horombo Hut > Mandara Hut > Marangu Gate

Overview

  • Duration:6 days 5 nights
Mount Kilimanjaro Trekking via the Marangu Route is the most established and traditional route to the summit of Africa’s highest mountain. Often referred to as the “Coca‑Cola Route”, Marangu is unique because it is the only route that offers dormitory‑style hut accommodation, making it an attractive option for trekkers who prefer sleeping in huts rather than tents.

The Marangu Route follows a gradual ascent along the southeastern side of Mount Kilimanjaro, passing through rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and glacial zones. Although it is the shortest route to the summit, the 6‑day itinerary is best suited for trekkers with good fitness and determination. This route is ideal for those seeking a classic Kilimanjaro experience with added comfort.
